OUR PROJECT

The Principal GNC Architect will focus on Rendezvous & Proximity Operations and lead the system architecture and algorithm development on a next-generation autonomous robotic spacecraft designed to perform complex on-orbit missions. The space craft will operate in a GPS-denied orbital environment relying entirely on onboard sensing, estimation, and autonomous decision making. The mission requires advanced Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC) architecture capable of managing relative motion dynamics, collision avoidance, trajectory optimization, and safety critical contingency handling.

This is a long-term contract position that will be 100% remote requiring occasional travel to Houston, TX. You can expect very competitive pay.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a Principal GNC Architect who will focus on Rendezvous & Proximity Operations and lead the system architecture and algorithm development for this mission. This individual will define the end-to-end GNC and RPO architecture and ensure seamless integration between orbital mechanics, flight software, sensors, robotics systems, and onboard computing. This role requires both deep technical expertise and big-picture systems leadership. The ideal candidate has previously architected or managed RPO or autonomous aerospace systems and understands how to bring together algorithms, hardware, and mission objectives into a validated, flight-ready system.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Deep experience in Orbital Mechanics, Relative Motion Dynamics, Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC), and Rendezvous & Proximity Operations (RPO).
  • Strong background in State Estimation, Nonlinear Control Systems, and Trajectory Optimization.
  • Proven experience designing autonomous systems operating without GPS.
  • Experience integrating GNC algorithms with onboard flight computers.

Effective written and verbal communication skills are absolutely required for this role. You must be able to work LEGALLY in the United States as NO SPONSORSHIP will be provided. NO 3rd PARTIES.
